What to expect at go play
Tabletop roleplaying games
Go Play offers four sessions of tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) across the weekend. You'll get to choose to play from games in many systems, from both well known and indie RPGs. Each game session will run for up to 3.5 hours. The first session kicks off at 9am each day, followed by a lunch break at 12:30pm. The second session of TTRPGs starts at 1:30pm.
Go Plays offers at least 10 tables of roleplaying games per session (final numbers TBD), and we encourage you to sign up for ahead of time via the Register to Play page (once games open for registration). You can also sign up to play on the day, however your selection of games to play will be more limited.
With the wildly creative scope of games on offer each year, there's bound to be the perfect game for you. Stay tuned ... we'll be adding this year's games very soon.
Players of all skill levels are welcome. You don't have to have played that particular game system before (or ever participated in a tabletop roleplaying game). We have staff on hand to help you, if you're a newbie and need extra support.
An inclusive, welcoming environment
We offer an inclusive, safe and supportive space where everyone is welcome. We'll have Hearth Wardens watching over everyone on the day to ensure our strict code of conduct is adhered to and ensure you feel safe. Please approach them if you have any concerns on the day. Our GMs are ready to assist novice players, so not knowing the rules won't get in the way of your fun.
Indie boardgames
At Go Play, you'll also find indie boardgames to play. We invite local game designers to showcase their boardgames – some of which are fully published (and can even be purchased on the day), others still in development. Playing their games isn't just fun for you, it helps local game designers showcase and refine their creations. Supporting our local game community is a big part of what Go Play is all about.
Ale & Rations: the Go Play social
At the end of our first Go Play day each year – Saturday night from 5:30pm – we hold Ale & Rations, a casual social gathering at a nearby venue or pub where all players can hang out and chat about the day's adventures. Drinkers and non-drinkers alike are very welcome.
