Code of conduct

At Go Play, we have a code of conduct that all attendees and staff agree to follow.

I like gaming. You like gaming. That’s why you’re coming to Go Play Brisbane, right? In fact, that’s why everyone who comes to the convention is there. We like gaming! Gaming at Go Play is fun. It’s meant to be fun. That’s why we like the ‘Play’ in our name.

Play is meant to be fun, but it can’t be at the cost of someone else’s safety, happiness, or comfort. If your fun means that someone else’s safety, happiness, or comfort is diminished, then you need to stop what you’re doing. We have no tolerance for that kind of behaviour: it’s harassment.

If you witness or are targeted by harassment, please come to see one of Go Play’s Hearth Wardens, identified by their lanyard, who will deal with these concerns directly so you can return to the fun.

Harassment takes many forms. Go Play does not tolerate behaviour including, but not limited to:

  • offensive verbal comments
  • inappropriate or unwelcome physical attention or contact
  • intimidation
  • stalking
  • harassing or non-consensual photography or recording
  • sustained disruption of games, workshops, or other events
  • bathroom policing

…in relation to:

  • gender
  • race
  • gender identity
  • colour
  • sexual orientation
  • national origin
  • gender presentation
  • age
  • body size
  • disability
  • appearance
  • religion
  • citizenship
  • pregnancy.

Failure to adhere to the community standards may result in:

  1. Mediation
  2. Verbal warnings
  3. Ejection from Go Play Brisbane (for the day or permanently)
  4. Contacting the police.

To be clear, this policy applies to everyone at the convention. Players, GMs, organisers, people who have been to every Go Play, and people who are here for the first time. The same standards and consequences apply to all.

When you are at Go Play, be respectful to each other.

We believe in making gaming a welcoming space for everyone.

Follow this code of conduct and help us keep the play in Go Play.
